Asheville Team

Brook

Front Desk / Treatment Coordinator

I began working in the dental field and for Appalachian Dental in 2017. I’m certified in dental radiography and up to date with current ADA codes and requirements for claims and patient care. Mainly my job entails verifying patients’ insurance/coverage, filing insurance claims, posting insurance payments, proposing appointments for the next day, and sending out monthly statements. My favorite part of the job is helping patients maintain the maximum use of their dental benefits and making sure that they understand their dental policy with as much information as I can provide them. I also love the team I work with. The team at Appalachian Dental works so hard and we all work really well together!

Outside of the office, I am a boy mom, dog mom, and future wife (June 2022). I am native to the area–born and raised. I live in Haywood County with my family, dogs, goats, and chickens. We spend most of our time at home; however, we do love to travel and see things, so we make an effort to take mini vacations throughout the year to different interesting locations. We also love to fish and just be outside in nature.

Britnany

Dental Assistant

I attended an advanced dental assisting program as well as had an internship at an orthodontist’s office. My journey into the dental field began in 2007, and coincidentally, that is also when I started working at Appalachian Dental. My main duty is assisting the doctors with all procedures. I really enjoy getting to know the patients and providing them with excellent care. My work environment is also great–everyone here is very diligent and they make going to work very enjoyable.

I have been married to my husband, Clay, for 16 years. We have two boys, Tegan and Mitchell. Our family absolutely loves the outdoors. We spend a lot of our time enjoying the sunshine at our lake home in Georgia.

Sarah

Front Desk Lead

I started working in the dental field in 2020 with Appalachian Dental. I make sure the schedule runs smoothly day to day while also making sure we have adequate time for the doctors to see each patient. I also help with ordering supplies our office may need, making sure the office as a whole runs smoothly, and also making sure that each patient leaves with a smile on their face. I love seeing patients walk out of our office with more confidence. The dentist can be a scary place to visit, but our staff here makes it more comfortable. We usually see patients less nervous with each follow up. Seeing that a patient is no longer nervous to see the dentist is a very rewarding feeling. We truly have an amazing team at Appalachian Dental. Everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand and always thinking of the patients first. We’re like a big family here!

I am married to my husband, Justin. We have four kids who keep us pretty busy! We also have a fur baby, Bruschi (we are huge New England Patriots fans). If we are not on the ball fields, we are at the lake or at the beach for a long, relaxing weekend.

Michelle

Dental Hygienist

I earned my diploma for dental assisting in 2004 at Asheville–Buncombe Technical Community College. At the same school, I also earned a degree in dental hygiene in 2006. That was the year when my career into the dental field took off. It wasn’t until 2021 when I was hired to work at Appalachian Dental. My job entails helping patients achieve and maintain good oral health. My favorite part of this job is working with all my fun co-workers. We work so well as a team!

In my spare time outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our kids, and our grandkids.

Anita

Dental Hygienist

I started as a dental assistant in 1987 after graduating from Orlando Vocational School. I then moved on to Valencia Community College where I graduated as a dental hygienist and started working as one in 1991. I began work at Appalachian Dental in 2019 at the Franklin office and transferred to the Ashville office in 2021. I help patients maintain healthy teeth and gums, which ultimately contributes to overall health. My favorite part about being a dental hygienist is saving teeth! I enjoy helping patients learn to maintain and keep their natural teeth. To see a patient’s before and after pictures, especially those with periodontal (gum) disease, is amazing. Just seeing that their home care habits paid off is the best! At Appalachian Dental, every person on our team is dedicated to patient success. We are fine-tuned and a well-oiled dental engine!

I fell in love with North Carolina during numerous vacations around the area. When the opportunity to move here presented itself, I took it! No matter the season, the views are beautiful. Some of my hobbies include hiking, paddle boarding, snow skiing, and attending local festivals throughout the year.

Tara

Dental Assistant

My career in the dental field began in 2011. I am a Dental Assisting National Board certified dental assistant. I began working for Appalachian Dental in 2021. I help patients understand the condition of their dental health, while also helping them feel more at ease. Not many people like seeing the dentist, so it’s important to make my patients feel comfortable. My job consists of assisting doctors with restorative procedures, taking X-rays, making impressions, and communicating with patients. The team at Appalachian Dental is fantastic. I love working with their kind personalities and learning from each of them.

I am a native of Western North Carolina. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two young daughters. Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family.
